Spain went into the final of the FIFA World Cup 2010, to play the Netherlands in Johannesburg.
This time, a new soccer champion, is the world going to see.
Earlier football world champions are,
• Brazil won five times
• Italy won four time
• Germany won three times (as West Germany before consolidation)
• Argentina won two times
• Uruguay won twice
• France once
• England one
The group of above listed champions has seemed somewhat like a club, intimidating everybody.
But this time it’s going to be an eighth country making it a club of eight.
Either Spain or the Netherlands will sit at the table set for eight, representing a place for all the other nations which are still waiting but have talent and lots of aspirations. Now we can say, just play football and a country can be the champion, no politics.
Germans played superbly for five matches but were unlucky in the semifinal. They did not show the same snatching skills and intensity, in semifinal, which they did earlier. They might have taken Spain lightly, and didn’t judge them well.
Spain has been the most skilled team of all, in the past few years, and they showed and executed their strategies tonight by circulating the ball quickly making it difficult for Germans to stick to their plan.
Puyol (Spanish football hero) has put the coalescing soccer nation of Spain into the final and inspired other soccer nations, big and small – China (maybe), South Korea, Ghana or some other African nation, Mexico, Chile from the Americas, may be.
The World Cup champions table is not some closed club. It’s going up to eight on Sunday, Hurray!
